In general, weight reduction is a broad term that describes any loss in the total body weight, made up of fat, muscle, other components, and water content in the body. All these factors, calorie restriction or exercise, and many others, including dehydration, can explain weight loss. While losing weight may have benefits, one would not want to confuse losing fat for losing weight just because quick weight loss can result in the loss of muscle mass, which negatively impacts metabolism and health. Therefore, the majority should engage with an approach that is sustainable to lose body fats for a healthy life in the long term.
